Hi, I’m Stephen Whitfield, the teacher and creator behind Backbeat Music Lab. I’m a music educator with 17 years of experience teaching students how to make music in a way that is creative, practical, and fun. My teaching is rooted in the Modern Band approach, where students learn through the music they actually enjoy—playing songs, developing real-world skills, and building confidence along the way. At Backbeat Music Lab, my goal is to give beginner and developing musicians a welcoming place to learn, explore, and discover that making music can be something they genuinely love.
